Winners of our 2024 Euroscola competition

We are delighted to announce the winners of our Euroscola competition on the topic ‘Digital Addiction. The winning schools will travel to the European Parliament in Strasbourg in Spring 2025 to represent Ireland at Euroscola.

This year’s Euroscola competition focussed on the topic of digital addiction. The impact of social media platforms on the health of users, especially young people, is of great concern and the European Parliament has urged the European Commission to propose new EU rules to tackle digital addiction.   We asked students to create a one-minute video clip explaining their ideas on what the EU can do to tackle digital addiction.

We received a record number of entries, from breaking news reports to rap songs, and everything in between, making the selection process all the more difficult.   We would sincerely like to congratulate all the students and teachers involved in producing creative and engaging videos on the topic.

One winning school and one runner-up was selected from each of Ireland's three European constituencies.  Another four schools were highly commended for their entries.

The winning students and teachers will travel to the European Parliament in Strasbourg to take part in Euroscola and experience a day as an MEP.  They will join their peers from across Europe, engaging in the EU decision-making process through debates, negotiating with their colleagues, voting and adopting resolutions on topical European issues.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in such great numbers and will keep you posted on what happens next at EU level with regard to this issue.
