Art Exhibition: Reading the rural landscape
This is an exhibition of the results of Mark Price's survey of farm structures around Ireland that have benefitted from the Traditional Farm Buildings Grant Scheme, recently honoured with a Europa Nostra Award. In each case, he has tried to illustrate something of the relationship of these structures to the landscape. Farming has shaped - and been shaped by - the Irish landscape in distinctive ways, forming patterns of enclosure which have venerable histories. The Grant Scheme aims to preserve essential elements of this history by ensuring the ongoing viability of structures for future generations of farmers.
Organised together with The Heritage Council.
