Nationwide awareness campaign for the European elections 2024

With the European elections on 7 June fast approaching, the European Parliament Liaison Office in Ireland is planning a nationwide awareness campaign with the aim of increasing voter turnout among voters in Ireland. We will launch our campaign in each of the constituencies in turn with a series of events and activities.

We will first of all travel to Limerick, where we will launch the campaign nationally on 30 April. Our activities in Limerick include:

  • media events
  • an information stand at the junction between O’Connell St and Thomas St from 10:00 to 14:00, with information leaflets and promotional items
  • co-hosting a roundtable at the University of Limerick with panellists from the UL Centre for European Studies
  • hosting an EU themed table quiz in Limerick city centre in the evening

On the 2 May, we move to Sligo, where we will launch our campaign in Midlands-North-West where our activities include:

  • media events
  • an information stand on the footpath in front of the Yeats Society, near Hyde Bridge and the Tourist Office from 13:00 to 17:00, with information leaflets and promotional items
  • an EU-themed poetry evening
  • the launch of an open call for artists in Ireland to submit work to be shown this autumn in the new Europe House.

On the 7 May, exactly one month out from election day, we will be in Portlaoise where we will launch our campaign in Ireland South constituency with:

  • media events
  • an information event at the Midlands Hotel - The EU in your community
  • an information stand outside Super Valu from 13:00 to 17:00, with information leaflets and promotional items.

On Europe Day, May 9, we launch our Dublin campaign with the following activities:

  • media events
  • the illumination of several buildings around Dublin
  • we are partnering with The Art of Coffee to provide a free promotional chocolate with every hot drink bought at each of their 14 outlets around Dublin.

Our Dublin campaign will include also a series of information events at Europe House, information stands at a number of events, media advertising as well as advertising on Dublin Bus buses, and a giant banner on Liberty Hall.

Please get in touch by email to epdublin@europarl.europa.eu if you would like to know more about any of the above events. In particular, we would love to see you at one of our information stands, where we will be reminding people to vote and giving out free promotional items.
